Dr. Sergio Jacinto was born in Manhattan, New York in 1963, shortly after his parents emigrated from Cuba. Several years later, his family moved to Miami where he was raised. Dr. Jacinto obtained his medical degree from Universidad Central del Este in the Dominican Republic.
Dr. Jacinto completed his internship and residency at MetroHealth Medical Center, an affiliate of Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He then moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan where he completed his pediatric neurology fellowship at the University of Michigan. Dr. Jacinto has practiced private pediatric neurology in the Tampa Bay area since 1994, and has been affiliated with the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine where he is now an Affiliate Associate Professor. He has been involved in educating residents, medical students and nurse practitioners for many years. Dr. Jacinto has been board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics since 1994, as well as the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with special qualifications in child neurology since May 2001. Dr. Jacinto has privileges at St. Joseph's Hospital, Tampa General Hospital and Brandon Regional Hospital. In addition to doing hospital rounds every morning, he has two office locations including one in Tampa and the other in Brandon. His Tampa office is home to a three-bed long-term audio/video EEG telemetry unit. Dr. Jacinto has also been a sub-investigator in many epilepsy drug trials, which has led to the FDA approval of many of our current seizure medications. In addition, Dr. Jacinto also has special interests in neuromuscular disorders in children and is one of the few pediatric neurologists in the state of Florida who performs EMG/NCV studies in children.
